Saturday, October 25, Kiersten Puusemp will depart from Los Angeles on an expedition. What follows will be “an attempt to touch something intangible, to physically experience something that cannot be sufficiently understood intellectually and to perceive the physical reality of a human existence that is limited to a concrete space within an infinite universe.” The duration of the trip, also the duration of the exhibition at The Box, will be spent trying to reach a location in the middle of the Indian Ocean that is on the exact opposite side of the earth from the gallery out of which the trip has been staged. If successful, at some point over the course of the three weeks following departure, she and the location from which the trip began will “be as far as two things on earth can ever be from each other.”
